societies

Student Societies at Gordon’s School offer a wide range of opportunities, from academic and cultural groups to creative, political and interest‑based. They allow students to explore their interests, develop new skills and work with others who share their ideas.

Unlike staff-led clubs, societies are usually led by Sixth Form students. We actively encourage students to propose and launch new societies as part of our “Can I?” culture. Creating and running a society helps students build leadership, organisation, communication and teamwork skills, while taking real responsibility for a project they care about.

Societies depend on student enthusiasm, so some may change or naturally come to an end over time. This is part of the learning process, and students are encouraged to commit fully and take ownership of their societies.

The Society system is overseen by the President of Societies (in 2026, S Godhawale), who supports student leaders, oversees society activity, and reports each term to the Student Governing Body, while also promoting the creation of new societies.

Active Societies in 2026: Law, Politics, Culture, Engineering; Med/Vet; Robotics; Spanish Film

If you would like to propose a new Society please email the President of Societies (20GodhS@gordons.school).
