Hat's a Wrap

Year 7 students performed in their first parade this morning for Harvest Festival and celebrated by the statue of General Gordon by throwing their Glengarry caps. The year group only started learning to march last month but showed how far they had come and were applauded by their peers, parents, staff and friends on the Parade Square. The year group joins a cast of thousands to have marched on the Parade Square, dating back over a century to when the school first opened as a home for ‘necessitous’ boys. During the Parade, student achievements were celebrated, including those of Gordonians Ollie Streeter and Elliot Williams selected for the Rugby Under 20 England training team; netball players Jasmine Akrasi and Anna Dale-Smith elected for the England Netball Roses Academy Long Squads; Siddhant Mathur selected for the Diploma in Sporting Excellence in hockey, delivered in partnership with England Hockey and Loughborough College; Hannah Self, already a Surrey County football player, signed to play for Reading Football Club this season and Owen Knight, a member of the senior choir since Year 9, receiving an offer of a choral scholarship to Oxford University.
