Surrey Heath's Deputy Mayor Cllr Robin Perry welcomes over 120 delegates to Gordon's today for the Surrey Heath Youth Council Conference 'Curriculum for Life'. The delegates are attending workshops and listening to speakers on topics ranging from 'What is Life Like at University' to 'How to Prepare for an Interview and Deal with Stressful Questions'.
Looking forward to welcoming over 120 delegates today from four Surrey Heath schools for the Surrey Heath Youth Council Conference 'Curriculum for Life'. All are coming to Gordon’s to hear a variety of university speakers. SHYC is a peer-led social action group which tries to improve the Surrey Heath area for all young people. Their aim is to be a voice for young people and increase their awareness and influence over issues which concern their lives. They run projects on a range of topics that matter to people in their age group, including town planning; transport and other council services.
One event, five riders, 12 rosettes! Horse riders from Gordon’s Equestrian Team competed in sub-zero temperatures on Sunday in an unaffiliated dressage and show jumping competition at Bury Farm, Leighton Buzzard against adults and juniors alike. Taking part for the first time in a Gordon’s Equestrian event, Emilia Hewetson recorded just a few minor errors in the 60cm course at the NSEA Dressage and Show Jumping Competition and finished fourth with 64.57% in the Intro C Dressage Test. The Gordon's Show Jumping Event - open to teams and individuals aged between 8 years old and 18 in full time education, will take place on Sunday 10th March. The annual General Gordon Memorial Service at Guildford Cathedral today, attended by the whole school, staff and parents. The Gordon Sermon was delivered by the Bishop of Dorking Dr Jo Bailey Wells.
Bringing Whitehall to a standstill, the annual Parade to the statue of General Gordon on the banks of the Thames today. Watched by parents, staff and many tourists, the event was a fitting tribute to the heroic and devoted Christian, in whose memory the school is founded.

Gordon’s is the only school in the country permitted to march along this iconic central London venue, a proud tradition that is an integral part of the school's history. Cold, wet and dark, the perfect conditions for a further ten minutes under the duvet. Not so for the many Day and Residential Boarders who don PE kit and taking part in Early Morning Training three times a week at Gordon’s - whatever the weather! Today Mr Fox welcomed 44 of them from every year group in the school. Many came along to improve their fitness for the expedition to Dartmoor, others for team sports and their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. All can now look forward to a hearty breakfast.
Mock exams out of the way, now it’s time for the Sixth Form interviews. Senior members of staff at Gordon’s have begun interviewing current Year 11 Students who wish to continue into the Sixth Form, which ranks in the top one per cent of schools in the country for progress over the past three years at A Level. Next week Gordon's will be welcoming external applicants for interview. Best of luck to all of them.
Diffusing bombs and escaping - just a normal weekend in the life of a Gordon's boarder! Balmoral and Windsor enjoyed a great trip out to Containment Escape Rooms for a day of problem solving and puzzles, managing to escape with just three minutes remaining.
With the Whitehall Parade just around the corner, time to take to the Parade Square at Gordon's for some practice. The school is the only one in the country allowed to march along this iconic London street, a Parade that is held every year in remembrance of General Gordon.
