  • grinch steals competition

    The Grinch stole the Christmas Cake Decorating Competition as Gordon’s Sixth Formers set the bar to a new level today producing a fantastic array of designs and decorations. In the end it was Augusta with their Grinch who were crowned icing queens. In second place a jaunty Father Christmas by China and third place was Windsor with their penguin.

    Congratulations to the new Head Boy Oliver Henderson and Head Girl Abigail White. The two of them were appointed after formal interviews with 20 Year 12 Students. Their Deputies are Tobias Johnson and Dina Khan. They will take up their duties from next term at the Guildford Cathedral Service. We wish them all the best of luck and hope that they enjoy their new roles.

    This year’s Gordonian Award Winners are Freya Keppel-Compton (Creative Arts, Music) and Ella Litjens (Sport).

    Winter training for the Gordon’s Boat Club is now in the new purpose built ergo centre on the Back Field. Students in Years 8 and 9 took part in a rowing taster session as the sport is included as a Period 7 activity for these year groups in the Spring Term.

    England Rugby legend Steve Borthwick delighted players at Gordon’s this afternoon by taking them for a practise session on the Front Field. Currently coaching the national team, Mr Borthwick played for England between 2001 and 2010, captaining the side for two years. His visit is particularly timely given that the first XV will be playing the Royal Alexandra and Albert School for the Sovereign’s Cup on Saturday.

    Taking to the water in their brand new double scull, members of the Gordon’s Boat Club who rowed in their first time trial race, Burway Head from Chertsey Lock to Penton Hook Lock. Seven girls competed across four boats, three double sculls and a coxed quad scull.
