    Hard fought to the very last, Gordon’s First XI Football Team ended their journey in the English Schools’ Football Association U18 Trophy, bowing out to Hampton School yesterday afternoon 5-4. Some 364 teams had entered the prestigious national competition, which has seen Gordon’s achieve a place in the semi-final two years in a row.

    Another string to the Creative Arts Department’s bow has been added now it has joined the Artsmark community and is working towards an Artsmark. The creative quality standard for schools is accredited by Arts Council England and provides a clear framework for planning, developing and evaluating arts, culture and creativity across the curriculum.

    In this, their first major test as a squad, Gordon’s U18s VII side beat Shiplake College to become trophy winners in the Worth 7s Competition at the weekend by 17 points to 12. The team is now concentrating on the Surrey U18s Festival this week and the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s.

    Over 44 organisations have signed up for the Gordon’s Careers Fair tomorrow from law, engineering and project management to the NHS, creative arts and event management.     As part of their BTEC Business Course, Y11 students ‘applied’ for the position of Kitchen Assistant at Gordon’s, supplying a letter; CV and application form. To prepare them for the process, they were shown around the kitchen by Catering Manager David Mason. As well as learning about the importance of the application process, they came away much wiser about the nature of the catering industry - and how much work goes into their meals every day!
