  • STEM SPEED

    Whistlestop careers advice for our Year 10s as they are speed networking with SATRO this morning.With just two minutes to put their problem solving skills to the test by questioning the visiting businesses from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) industries, the students have to guess their career. Afterwards they will be given the opportunity to hear from the invited businesses and question them further. The event is designed to enthuse, educate and empower students to engage in STEM subjects and develop their employability skills for future career pathways.     Congratulations to Gordon Foundation Trustee Councillor Alan McClafferty on his election as Leader of Surrey Heath Borough Council.  Cllr McClafferty, who is the Link Governor for Careers at Gordon's, has served as a local councillor since 2015.

  • POLITICIAN TO PRISONER TO PRISON CHAPLAIN

    Former Conservative Minister Jonathan Aitken was convicted of perjury and served seven months of an 18 month prison sentence. Last year he was ordained as an Anglican Priest. On Thursday (February 13th) at 6.15pm he’s coming to Gordon’s to talk on: ‘From Politician to Prisoner to Prison Chaplain’. Tickets are free and the event is open to all!   • LAST POST AT MENIN GATE

    Humbled and honoured, students members of the Pipes and Drums took part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate on Sunday. After a Parade from the Town Hall in Ypres through the town, the group of 28 pipers and drummers gathered close to the iconic Memorial to the Missing. There, Pipe Major Owen played the lament before the whole band joined for Amazing Grace. A wreath was laid at the foot of the Memorial to the Missing by Drum Major Lottie. The Last Post has been sounded at the Gate every evening at 8.00pm since 1928. The Gordon’s Pipes and Drum’s contributed to the 31,669th service at the Memorial dedicated to the 54,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in Belgium and have no known grave.

  • CONFERENCE SUCCESS

    Accomplished and passionate debating marked the second MUN Conference at Gordon's, which attracted almost 100 students from seven schools including one from Germany. Professional to the last, delegates debated issues such as the use of chemical agents for riot control; the question of government accountability and transparency and sustainable fisheries over the two day event. At the formal dinner on the Saturday evening Sir Andrew Parmley, former Lord Mayor of London gave the key note speech. Please click here for further pictures.

    ‘What a show!’; ‘excellent collaboration of the arts’ and ‘….wonderful first night’ were just some of the comments made about the sell-out Dr Faustus production which arrived at Gordon’s last night. All performances are sold out for what promises to be another breath-taking production by the Drama students.   • RUGBY SEVENS SUCCESS

    Cup finalists in the Seaford College 7s Tournament, Gordon’s U18 VII suffered an agonising loss to Epsom College 5-0 on Sunday. However, Corum Nott was picked Player of the Tournament. Their scores in the Group Stages: New Hall School 33-12; Hurstpierpoint College 19-14; Felsted School 19-12 and Bishop Wordsworth’s School 19-17. Congratulations all on your fantastic performances.
