  • clean sweep for Gordon's Golfers

    A clean sweep in the National Schools Golf at Hollinwell Golf Club saw Gordon’s U15 team, competing in the U18 event, win the stableford both as a team and in the individual competition. Gordon’s team averaged 35 points for each of the seven players. In the individual stableford competition Gordon’s Zach Mathews finished first with 45 points, Dylan Mumford second with 42 points and Harry James third with 41 points. Dylan Mumford scored an impressive nine over par off a handicap of 16 to finish third in the scratch competition. The results come less than a week after the U18 team golfers won a place in the finals of the ISGA (Independent Schools Golf Association) competition for the fourth consecutive year.

  • Model United Nations Awards

    Some great results at the Haileybury Model United Nations (MUN) at the weekend. The annual conference, the largest of its type in the country, attracting some 500 students from across the world, saw Hamish and Elliot awarded Most Distinguished delegates and Harry, Highly Commended Delegate.

  • Meeting the Minister

    Fascinating discussions between the Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and the MP for Surrey Heath and the student leadership team on a wide range of topics from Silicon Valley and the environment to the difficulties faced by students. Thank you Mr Gove for giving up your time to be here and for providing the students the opportunity to hear your views on issues that matter to them. Mr Gove thanked the students for their "very good" questions and said it had been "..most enjoyable", adding: "It is wonderful to have a conversation with young people who are so thoughtful and engaged in so many issues".

  • national finals for golfers

    A fourth consecutive final place for our golfers (Millie Cottrell, Joe Gould (left) and Josh Gates in the Independent Schools Golf Association (ISGA) Nationals after they won 2-1 against LVS Ascot. Will the Gordon’s golfers, who won the Nationals in 2020 and 2021, bring the trophy back again this year? The finals will be held at Slaley Hall GC in Northumberland in April. Gordon’s B Team will play Charterhouse in the National Plate.

  • step closer in rugby dream

    One step closer to realising his dream of playing rugby for England as Enock Addai headed to Bisham Abbey at the weekend to take part in the England’s U17s Development Training Camp!
    The 17 year old A Level student joined Gordon’s Sixth Form in September from his secondary school Lydiard Park Academy, also leaving his club rugby at Royal Wootton Bassett Rugby Football Club and Bath Academy Rugby.
    In his short time at Gordon’s he has been picked for the ACE Academy League and is a regular player for Harlequins U18s.
    The hooker/loosehead prop combines his academic studies with rugby training every day, weight training and games on Wednesdays.
    “I like the physicality of rugby” he says, “the sportsmanship. There are good people in rugby, very supporting. It’s a very good community to be a part of.”
    On hearing the news that he would be joining other England U17 hopefuls, Enock said: “I was pretty happy. It’s my dream to be part of the England team and play rugby, it has been since Year 7!”

  • Putting their best foot forward

    Over 100 students and staff are taking part in a walk around the Front Field today to raise awareness for the mental health charity MIND. Year 9 Students researching for their PSHE First Give project found that 16 million people suffer from undiagnosed mental health conditions every year in the UK. Each lap of the 40 they are completing is for those who are suffering.

  • #National Careers Week 2023

    A fascinating insight into how a humanities degree not only benefits career prospects but paves the way for life-long learning, was delivered to students by Steve Tibble as part of National Careers Week 2023. Dr Tibble, who specialises in medieval history, now writes books on the crusades and has an honorary role at Royal Holloway University. He explained to students how his academic work had benefited his career in strategy and planning in the corporate and financial communications sectors. Before his presentation, he spent time with students, Deputy Head (Academic) Andrew Reeve and Head of History Chris Coles and signed copies of two of his books for the History Department.

  • Peace Prize

    Writing on the theme of ‘peace’, Gordon’s students were finalists in the local heats of the Rotary Young Writer competition. The group of Marco, Rory, Benjamin and Owen were presented with their certificates and vouchers at a special event hosted by The Rotary CLUB of Woking. Jasmine, intermediate local heat winner and Owen the senior winner, will go through to District level. The competition seeks to promote and encourage the work of young, talented people and the winning writers will be published in Rotary magazines. Congratulations all.

    The two football games, Gordon's First XI v RGS Guildford and the U14s against Woking High School, scheduled for tonight at the EBB Stadium, home of Aldershot Town FC, have been postponed due to snow. Information on when the games will take place will be available as soon as possible.

  • Live Football Action

    Two thrilling football games scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday 8th March) at the home of The Shots as Gordon's First XI football team take on RGS Guildford at Aldershot Town FC's EBB Stadium (High Street, Aldershot GU11 1TW). This game will also be live-streamed by NextGen (click here to watch). All welcome to either support in person or by watching live (kick off 7.30pm)! Tickets £3 for over 18's and free for any under 18's.

    Also playing at the EBB stadium on Wednesday are our Under 14 team when they take on Woking High School (kick off 5.45pm).
