  • 138th Annual inspection and prize giving

    The 138th Annual Parade and Prize Giving ended the academic year on a high, with a whole-school Parade on the Front Field. The Guest of Honour and Inspecting Officer was the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey and Vice President of Gordon Foundation, Michael More-Molyneux. Mr More-Molyneux told assembled parents, students and staff: “I have now been visiting Gordon’s for over 20 years and I still go away feeling better than when I arrive. There is an energy, enthusiasm, interest and excitement about the school”.

    The Parade, led by the school Sergeant Major Sophie Bodell, marched on behind the Pipes and Drums playing Piobaireachd of Donald Dubh. 

    Mr More-Molyneaux also presented prizes including House cups. Two new cups, the Steve Monk Cups, in memory of Steve Monk, a former Director of Sport at Gordon’s for 20 years by his granddaughter, Gordonian Carys Monk were presented to the winning girls’ and boys’ Houses - Buckingham and Victoria.

    The Scottish traditional song of farewell ‘Parting Glass’, dedicated to the school Bursar Susan Meikle, who retires after 11 years at Gordon’s, brought the proceedings to a wonderful finale.

  • Farewell to our Leavers

    A glorious evening in which to celebrate the end of an era as our Year 13 students, who have just completed their A Levels, enjoyed an opportunity to spend time with each other and the staff who have supported them on their journey through the Sixth Form. The Front Field a blaze of colour as all enjoyed drinks with their parents before making their way to the marquee for their Leavers’ Dinner. Pictured are some of the leavers with the Head of Sixth Form Sandra Radford.

  • flying the flag for England

    Flying the flag for England today in Portugal, Betty Walden, who is taking part in the Opening Ceremony of the Dance World Cup, before competing on Sunday and Monday. Betty will perform in two categories, ballet and acrobatics, in what is the largest all-genre international competition for children and young adults, attracting competitors from over 60 nations. Wishing her the best of luck!

    Three national titles won by golfers competing in the ISGA HG Trophy at the Warwickshire Golf Club! Millie beat the entire field of boys and girls by three shots in the individual Scratch competition with a two under 69. Dylan won the individual Nett competition scoring an impressive 65, playing off 13 with a five over round 77. And Gordon’s B team of U14 golfers, playing in the Nett U18 competition won with Dylan’s 65 and Zach’s 70 scoring 135 – six shots ahead of the nearest team!

Summer Arts was the ultimate in diverse entertainment – from the lone piper on the roof of the school to the rapper, tap dancers, the school’s choirs and orchestra and newly formed Parent Band, the evening offered something for everyone! A spectacular display of the talents of not just students at Gordon’s but staff and parents.

    The U13 Netball Team were crowned champions of the World Schools Netball at the weekend. The event, at Loughborough University, also saw the U15s finish as Plate Champions while the U19s made the Cup Final.

    In a break with a family tradition that has seen both older brothers, Matt and Owen, appointed Pipe Majors of the Pipes and Drums Band, Lucy will take over as Drum Major in September. The new Pipe Major will be Harry, it was announced today. Congratulations both!

    Next time it appears in public will be at the Royal Academy’s Summer Collection but last night Ruby Parson’s portrait, featuring her sister scrolling on TikTok, was among the incredible A Level Art and Photography display in the school gym. The event was a glorious showcase of the work produced by these talented students.

    Motorbikes, bicycles, a wheelbarrow, postal van, vintage and high performance cars on the Parade Square last night. This could mean only one thing - the Year 11 Prom! And as they stepped out onto the red carpet, they brought glitz and glamour in abundance to loud applause from students, parents and staff.

  • Interactive Prayer

    A prayer space in the Chapel, offering interactive, creative and reflective prayer through origami, written expression, a bubble tube, mirror, pipe cleaners and much more. The space also provides the opportunity for staff and students to post prayers to their families across the world and to the people of Ukraine. The space is the initiative of Camberley Youth for Christ, working with the school’s Chaplain the Reverend Graham Wright.

    Two more wins for the rowers taking part in the Thames Valley Regatta at the weekend. For James and James another tankard each as they won their final of the J17 2x race by four boat lengths. In a thrilling final, Mimi swept through in the WJ17 1x to win her event. Congratulations all!
