  • Horse-riding success

    It’s the career pinnacle of every horse rider. Now Gigi Gough is set to achieve it aged just 13 years old when she rides into the arena of  The Horse of the Year Show at the NEC in Birmingham. Gigi, a member of the Gordon's Equestrian Team, will compete on the international stage on her horse Moscombe Cheeky Girl. She earned her place by winning the show pony class at the Three Counties Show in Malvern.

  • maths in the nile

    The bulldozers have moved in to start work on building the new dedicated Maths block – called Nile. The six-classroom block will be up and running by the new school term and will replace the out-dated three-classroom geography teaching block.   • book fair

    The Book Fair is now open during break and lunchtimes in the Library today (Wednesday 20th June) and tomorrow. Students can look forward to a 50 per cent discount on books and can buy them with cash or, provided the school has their parents’ written permission, can add the amount to their school bills.

  • Making music

    Getting ready to record Gordon's first ever music CD are members of the school band. The CD will also include performances from the school's, Pipes & Drums, Semper Fidelis Singers, String Group, and Show Choir. Copies of the CD will be available for £10 and can be pre-ordered from the Music Department.

  • drum raffle

    Now is your chance to have your own piece of Gordon’s history. The iconic drums that form part of the Pipes and Drums Band are being replaced so the old drums (both tenors and snares) are being raffled to raise money for specialist equipment for the band.  To be in with a chance of winning please buy your ticket by clicking here before the draw closes at 3.30pm on Saturday 30th June.   • Sign of the times

  • records smashed

    In a thrilling Inter-House athletics competition, two Gordon’s School records have been smashed – Pippa Dixon in Year 9 set a new one for Discus, throwing 26.16m and Ludlow Hewson in Year 7 ran the 3000m in 10.56.41. The competition ended with Balmoral placed first; Sandringham second and Khartoum 3rd and in the Girls’ Houses Augusta first; China second and Victoria third. All eyes are now on the final events – rounders and cricket.

    Pedal power makes an appearance for the first time at Inter-House Athletics today with the Urban Smoothie bikes. Spectators and competitors lined up to produce tasty drinks.

  • Gordon's taster

    Getting their first taste of life at Gordon’s School! Year 6 Pupils from Holy Trinity C of E Primary School in West End visited Gordon’s today and made (and ate!) Chinese spring rolls as a prelude to their coming to the school full time in September.  Gordon’s laid on a China Day to welcome the new arrivals, which also involved learning Mandarin; Chinese music; making Chinese dragons and a Lion Dance! We are looking forward to meeting them all again at other events in the Summer.

  • Cambridge prize

    Oxbridge hopeful Hana Godfrey has been awarded the Peterhouse Kelvin Science Prize. The Y12 Student, currently studying four A-Levels – Maths; Biology; Chemistry and Physics – wrote her essay on ‘Why are some molecules so poisonous?’. Judges at the Cambridge college felt that her essay ‘…stood out for its clarity of argument, stylish prose, level of research and originality of thought’. Entrants for the award had to write their essay about a subject that had not previously or were not currently studying as part of their sixth form studies.  Hana will be presented with £75 at a special event at the end of the month at Peterhouse College.

  • patron's parade

    While Her Majesty the Queen attended the Trooping the Colour in London to mark her official birthday, Gordon's commemorated it with the annual Patron's Parade. This year the Parade also celebrated the RAF's Centenary year and was inspected by Group Captain Peter Cracroft. It was led by Head Boy Max Beken. The Drum Major was George Whiteman; Pipe Major Zara Cracroft and Trumpeter is Andrew Milne.

  • royal seal of approval

    Founder's Day Parade at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and ten of our Y7 Students are proudly waiting before HRH Prince Michael of Kent performs the annual Review. Dressed in their 'Blues' marching uniform, the group has been chosen for their marching skills. The parade remembers King Charles II who issued a Royal Warrant for the foundation of the hospital and commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to design it on the 66 acre site. Each year representatives from Gordon's School are invited to attend this special event.
