    Pedal power: recording fantastic performances on Saturday in the Charlotteville Cycle Club’s Rainbow Splash off-road races, were Gordon’s cycle club members Joshua Deakin (first in the time trial race); Lachlan Bethune, first in the handicap race and Oliver Pinder (second in the skills race).

  • row, row, row your boat

    Indoor rowers at Gordon’s were crowned champions in the State Boarding Forum’s U14 competition recently. Now they have the chance to try their luck on the water with their first boat. The new Kanghua boat, funded by the GSPA and the Rowing Foundation will mean that rowers in Years 9-12 will be able to compete as Gordon’s School Boat Club. Coaches Manon Jones and Olympian Alan Inns will be training them.

  • institute of leadership and management

    Staff and students from Gordon’s School and Arete Partnership school Woking High, join together to listen to information on the Institute of Leadership and Management Awards and celebrate the achievements of those who were awarded in each Level. Congratulations to the following Gordon’s students for reaching ILM Level 2 for Aspiring Young Leaders: Brogan Hyde; Oliver Henderson; Callie O’Brien; Amber McMullen; Rajan Bhamra; Cameron Colloff; Phoebe Norman; Emily Jones; Joshua Deakin; Owen Carter; Uyime Ntia; Isobel Lewis and Lottie Henden. Receiving their ILM Level 3 Awards – the first time awarded to students - were Gordon’s Head Boy and Girl and their Deputies: Max Beken; Nichola Gilbert; Zahrah Salim and Daniel Lowe and staff: Sam Amos; Sarah Byne; Annabel Daniels; Katie Klavenes; Lauran Hampshire-Dell; Prabhleen Kaur and Joanna Thompson. Staff gaining their ILM Level 5 were: Susannah Hughes; Paul Schofield; Jamie Harrison; Simon Depoix and Megan Cottam.

  • bending it like beckham

    For the first time in Gordon’s history, a girls’ Under 18 football team is representing the school. The U’18 First Eleven team, which was formed due to popular demand, has already played one match and another seven fixtures are scheduled against schools such as Charterhouse and ACS Cobham. Last year the boys’ First Eleven team reached the semi-finals of the EFSA cup and Head of Football Paul King is hoping his female proteges will be equally successful: “The enthusiasm is certainly there”, he said, adding “I have also been impressed with their style and deftness. Many of the girls play football outside school so it was only a matter of time before it was added to their PE curriculum.”

  • red hot performances in blues

    More used to playing at events like Whitehall; Windsor Castle; the Caledonian Club and Burns’ nights, Gordon’s iconic Pipes players are gearing themselves up for a complete break from tradition. Next month they will accompany the ‘bagrock’ band the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. Ten pipers will join the popular group on Saturday 10th November at their concert at The Harlington, in Fleet.   • CCF away days

    Members of the CCF Army being briefed early this morning on The Parade Square before heading off for an Army Field Day with the Royal Engineers at the Gibraltar Barracks. The Royal Navy Section is also heading off today to Portsmouth where they will train with the Damage Repair Unit and Fire Fighters.

In the end the trophy winners emerged as Buckingham House with Sandringham second and joint third Windsor and Victoria.     Tonight’s Inter-House Music will be judged by Gordonian and keyboard player from BareJams, Josh Parmenter (far left). The second eldest of four Parmenter boys, all of whom boarded in Sandringham, Josh promises to be impartial in his judging and is very much looking forwarded to what has become a hotly contested Inter-House event in the school’s calendar.
