Head's welcome
A thorough preparation for life through modern ideas and traditional values
Welcome to Gordon's.
A non-selective boarding school, Gordon’s School was established in 1885 at the behest of Queen Victoria as the National Memorial to General Gordon, a national hero and extraordinary public servant. Gordon’s today, in keeping with this legacy, is founded on hard work and service. It is a school where students are encouraged not just to discover their talents and interests, but to better themselves to better help others.
Outstanding grades will only take young people so far in the real world; it is the stories they can tell, the skills they have developed and the experiences they have had beyond the classroom that will take them the furthest. Therefore, a Gordon’s education is not an ordinary education, it does not aspire to be. Our holistic approach to education, lived through our blend of academic rigour, pastoral care and co-curricular opportunities seeks to open minds, foster well-being, develop leadership & service and deliver excellence in all aspects of school life.
Just as we are not the standard education model, we do not want Gordonians to be standard citizens, we want them to earn their success through hard work and champion a future based not on privilege or advantage, but on how hard people work for themselves and others.
Such people are more likely to make the world a better place and lead happier lives.
