PE Leadership Award

Congratulations to staff and students in the school’s PE Department on being awarded the status as a Leadership Skills Foundation Centre of Excellence. In making the award, the Leadership Skills Foundation said: ‘We are always inspired by your hard work to provide so many leadership opportunities for young people and how you have embedded this into your culture and the experiences you provide for so many’.
In the past academic year, the school’s Sports Leaders programme, has involved 40 students, who have collectively completed 1,200 volunteering hours after gaining a refereeing or umpiring qualification. This year the programme has been expanded to 47 Year 12 students. Head of Physical Education, Matt Gullick said: “I'm really pleased that the work we have put into developing the programme has received this level of national recognition. It's a fantastic achievement for the school and everyone involved in providing these opportunities for our students”.
