National Golf Champions

Gordon’s School were crowned National Champions at the ISGA Finals at St Ives Golf Club, Huntingdonshire.

In a competition for the top golfing schools in the country,  Zach Mathews clinched the individual scratch championship from team mate Harry McCarthy by one shot with a three under par 69, holding his nerve after a double bogey at the 17th, which set nerves jangling. He held on down the last to record a solid par and claim a one shot win.

And in the team event, Gordon’s romped home five shots clear of Shrewsbury College, Matthews and Platt combining for a four under 68. 

In all, Gordon’s underlined their credentials as one of the leading golfing schools in the country, filling an unprecedented first, second, third, fourth, eighth and ninth places in the prestigious tournament.

Selected individual scores: 69 Z Mathews, 70 Harry McCarthy, 71 Jake Platt , 72 Dylan Mumford , 75 Matthew Daniels, 76 Ollie Sadler.

In the team event, won by Mathews and Platt with a combined four under total, five shots clear of second placed Shrewsbury College. Gordon’s filled third and fourth places, McCarthy and Sadler finishing +2 with Mumford and Daniels +3. 

In the Team Nett, Gordon's third and first team tied for runners up with Mumford and Daniels alongside Mathews and Platt with -4 par.
