Key Stage Three Scholars Programme

In Key Stage Three, our aim is to invoke a love of learning. The Scholars Programme at this level involves students undertaking a range of activities to enhance their academic accomplishments. These activities are themed into: Watch, Read, Listen, Write, Create and Do, and cover all academic subjects. Students choose a minimum of three to complete each half-term and will earn points and, therefore, rewards.  Students are responsible for logging their activities, which will be overseen in bi-weekly meetings with Miss Weeks. These meetings also offer a chance to discuss and reflect on their chosen academic activities. These sessions will also include opportunities to enhance students' critical thinking skills.

Our Year 9 students are continuing with AQA's Foundation Project Qualification. This is a Level 1 qualification which offers students opportunities to develop and improve their own learning and performance as inquisitive and independent students. They are required to complete an online project log book, tracking their journey, to write an 1000 word report and deliver a presentation on their entire project. Alongside their own research, students will receive 'Taught Skills' sessions developing their writing, researching and critical thinking abilities.  After the half-term can opt to complete the Perse Essay Award or continue with the usual programme.

We are also excited to launch our new mini lecture series designed exclusively for our Scholars at Gordon’s School. In each session, one of our teachers takes the stage for 10–15 minutes to share a big idea — something they’re passionate about, curious about, or think you should hear. It could be something from their subject, their studies, their life experience, or even a question with no easy answer. Think of it as Gordon’s very own version of a TED Talk — short, powerful, and designed to spark new thinking. This series offers our Scholars a unique opportunity to engage with powerful insights beyond the curriculum, challenge their perspective, and engage with the kind of learning that doesn’t come with a grade.
