Leaderboards well and truly turned green as Gordon’s School is crowned ISGA HG Trophy National Champions in the Individual Scratch and Team Scratch competitions at St Ive’s Golf Club. Jonnie’s -1 under par round of 71 won him the Individual Gross (scratch) with five other Gordon's students in the top 20, and three in the top ten individual scores out of 82 golfers. • award win

    Published 15/06/26

Delighted to have won the Education Choices Magazine Award 2026 for Bursary Support. Gordon’s was among an illustrious line up of finalist schools for the award, including Dulwich College, James Allen’s Girls’ School and Milton Abbey. The judges, Dr Joseph Spence, CEO of the School Partnership Alliance and Dr Sandie Okoro OBE, the first female Chancellor of the University of Bimingham, in making the award, concluded: 'As a state boarding school, Gordon's has built a bursary system through its Foundation that ensures no child is excluded on financial grounds - currently supporting around 60 pupils, funded through donations from organisations including the Worshipful Company of Girdlers and Buttle UK. Each Foundation Award is a genuine three-way collaboration between school, family and child, with funding organisations meeting recipients annually. Staff fundraise from their own salaries and give up half terms to raise money - speaking to a culture where bursary support is a whole-community commitment, not a departmental function'.

Honouring the school’s Patron, His Majesty King Charles III today at the annual Patron’s Parade. His Majesty accepted the patronage of the school in 2024, to continue an unbroken line of sovereign patrons since Queen Victoria in 1885.

Students marched on to the Parade Square led by Drum Major Ben Shorter and the Pipes and Drums, to The Bonnie Lass of Fyvie, known to be among the King’s favourite pipe tunes. The band also played Gordon’s Crown, the tune composed by students and Senior Pipe Major Iona Scotson for the King and presented to him when they played for His Majesty at Windsor Castle last year.

The Parade was inspected by the Chief Nursing Officer (Army), Brigadier Helen Winder KHN who declared it “an honour” and a “privilege” to witness the Parade and congratulated students together  with their supportive parents and teachers.

A special touch at the end of the Parade as the Pipes and Drums performed The Journey to Skye, which included drummers’ beating, the band forming into the shape of a thistle as they played.
