  • Hockey Heroes

    Lifting the Lord Wandsworth College Tournament Shield after an average of six goals per game, our Hockey 1st Team. The girls scored an amazing 42 goals in the tournament of 13 minute one way matches against tough opposition including Reed’s; Pangbourne; Bedales and Lord Wandsworth, conceding only three goals. Congratulations to all nine of them.

    Faiyaz Moolji (left) celebrates after setting a new all time record at U18 and U23 after coming first in the U18  Under 53kg competition at the National Powerlifting Championships in Newcastle.   • mindfulness garden

    Gardening Club students took another step closer to creating their mindfulness garden today when they welcomed their horticultural mentor Lettie Irving from RHS Wisley who advised on the design of the garden and plants best suited to it. The garden, part of the RHS Green Plan It scheme will feature a gazebo; sunken garden and seating. It will provide a place for students to connect; appreciate; be active; achieve and give.

    The stunning autumnal colours at Kew Gardens proved the perfect backdrop for Year 10s Art and Photography students studying ‘Surfaces’ and ‘A sense of place’. The group drew and photographed throughout the botanical gardens, particularly focussing on the reflections in the lake outside the Princess of Wales Conservatory.

  • pride of gordon's in rugby world cup

    Stressful weekend for our Head of PE, Paul King, watching two of his former pupils playing in the international arena. With Jake Ball squaring up to Faf de Klerk in the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup in Japan, his team reaching a cruel end to the journey, another, Steven Brown played the round of his life in the Portugal Golf Masters. Jake arrived at Gordon’s as a rugby player but switched to cricket for a couple of years, playing for Surrey County and Wokingham Cricket Club. Steven was a scratch golfer during his schooldays but also played for Gordon’s First XI football team. “But both lads have done themselves, Gordon’s and their countries proud” said Mr King, adding that his eyes are now on the Paralympics next year for another of his proteges, Hannah Russell.

    Four days of intense and high quality debating at the 39th Annual Royal Russell Model United Nation Conference saw 15 Gordon's students making many good speeches (and friends from around the world!) for and against resolutions. Head Boy Oliver was part of the MUNs International Court of Justice while Grace and Teah chaired committees. Congratulations all.

    Our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award students have taken advantage of their half term holiday for a canoeing expedition on the River Wye in Hereford.     Windsor House swept to victory last night in the Inter-House Music finals. The girls wowed the judges from the Royal Alexandra and Albert SchoolWoking High School and Gordon's with the Adele hit 'Rolling in the Deep'. In second place were spirited performances by Gravesend with Michael Jackson's Billie Jean and in third place Balmoral with Cold Play's Yellow. In summing up the evening, Lewis Edney Director of Music at the RAA said that each of the Houses had been "absolutely amazing" and he had been "blown away" by the ensembles.
