  • teamwork wins Bronze Battle

    Jubilation as 119 students in Year 9 complete their expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award at the weekend. The group, which represented the largest contingent to embark on the award from Gordon's, battled wind, rain, a flat battery on a wheelchair and a suspected broken ankle to complete the challenge in the Surrey Hills on Sunday. Congratulations all!

  • Lining up for Harlequins

    Nine of our students ran out for the Harlequins Academy on Sunday in their game against Worcester Warriors with a fine 45 vs 22 win. Two of our students made their way the score sheet with tries from Year 12s Ashworth at prop and winger King scoring on his debut.  For more about the Gordon's/Harlequins partnership programme, click here

  • Piping for the NHS

    A concert by the Pipes and Drums today is expected to have raised hundreds of pounds for the NHS. The concert, suggested by students as a fundraising exercise, was a huge success and enjoyed by viewers all over the world via Zoom. Dressed in their ceremonial Blues, the band were a spectacular sight on the Parade Square where they performed in wind and rain!

  • Watch This Space!

    Coming soon to Gordon's, the official launch of the school's biggest ever competitions. The Wynter Bee Global Citizen Award for KS4/5 will see the winner embarking on an all-expenses paid trip to Costa Rica to take part in a life-changing conservation and development project. For students in KS3, the Headmaster's Global Citizen Award, has a Red Letter Day experience of your choice for the winning entry. Look out for more details next week on these exciting competitions and how to enter them.

  • Amazing Grace for Commuters

    Commuters along the Bagshot Road outside Gordon's have enjoyed the daily sounds of the Pipes and Drums rehearsing in the car park for their concert on Friday. Today they were treated to Amazing Grace as they made their way to work. Tickets for the virtual concert, which will see the Pipes and Drums in full ceremonial uniform on the Parade Square are still available via the Box Office (click here). The event will be transmitted via Zoom with all proceeds to the NHS.

  • Silver Award

    Delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Silver Artsmark Award. The award, which is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings accredited by Arts Council England, recognises our commitment to the arts and cultural education. Gordon's boasts a strong presence in local, national and international events with a nationally-renowned Pipes and Drums Band. Sixth Form Scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating outstanding ability in a musical instrument/singing. For further information click here.

  • Buckingham's Recipe for Success

    A delectable tomato and onion fusilli incorporating carrot and combined with home-made herby bread proved the winning dish for Balmoral House at the KS4 Rustle Up. Each House had just 15 minutes to come up with a plate of food using carrot or beetroot, and 45 minutes in which to produce their culinary delight. Dishes ranged from home-made pasta; pancakes; cupcakes and cakes, all skilfully made with carrots or beetroots as the star ingredient. Reigning champions Victoria were awarded second place with Khartoum in third spot. Congratulations all on some mouth-watering creations.

  • Rowing Success

    Their disciplined training and hard work paid off for members of the Gordon's Boat Club competing in the 2021 National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships. In this their first competition since before lockdown, 19 rowers took to the ergos, competing virtually against schools and rowing clubs across the country. Stand-out performances included a seventh placing for one Year 9 girl, in a field of 200; fourth for another in the girls' senior section and fifth place in the Year 10 boys' competition from a field of 230! The NJIRC is a precursor to the forthcoming National Schools' Regatta being held over the May Bank Holiday weekend at Dorney. Best of luck to the Gordon's rowers taking their places here on water for the first time in almost two years.

    Our largest contingent of Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Scheme students took to the Surrey countryside over the weekend for their practice expedition. Braving torrential rain, over 100 Year 9 students hiked across Reigate Heath to prepare for the all-important final next weekend.

    Congratulations to our U12 girls' cricket team who came third in the Surrey CC Starburst Festival today. Some fantastic performances all round at both the crease and in the field. A great start to the season.

  • Great Gordon's Cake Off

    A frog on a lily pad won cake decorators in China House (pictured above) in Years 7-9, first prize in this year's Inter-House Baking competition. Houses had just one hour in which to transform a humble Victoria sandwich cake. Judge Paul Hopkins, the school's Catering Manager said they were the best he had ever seen in his years of judging! In second place were Kensington House with their intricate flower design, complete with hand-crafted roses and third place Windsor and their NHS themed cake, complete with rainbow. Congratulations all on some truly imaginative and creative designs.
