    Congratulations to our U15 girls' cricket team, champions of the North West Surrey Indoor Cricket Tournament, after winning all three of their games. The girls, from Years 9 and 10 played eight overs in each game, putting on a talented display of both bowling and batting.

  • Be our guest

    The Disney classic Beauty and the Beast arrives at Gordon’s tonight for the first of three sell-out performances. The whole school musical production, complete with outsized teapots and talking clocks and candles comes just a month after the lower school’s Matilda Jr and is a magical celebration of the talented students in the Drama Department, both on the stage and in the production team.

  • Stopping the Traffic in Whitehall

    Gordon’s School returned to Whitehall today for the annual Parade in memory of General Charles Gordon in whose honour the school was founded. The Parade, along one of London’s most iconic streets, was cancelled due to the pandemic last year, for the first time in living memory. But the 200 students together with the Pipes and Drums, more than made up for the missed event as they made their way along Whitehall to the General Gordon statue on the banks of the Thames. There, wreaths were laid on behalf of the Gordon family; the Gordonians and Governors, Trustees; staff and students.

  • Putting on the Pounds after Christmas

    A perennial problem for some, putting on extra pounds after Christmas. But for Sixth Former Jake Wright, his post-Christmas weight has increased by 20 kilos! Jake started wearing a 20kg weighted vest on 1st January and will continue until the end of the month in a bid to raise as much money as he can for the men’s mental health charity ManUp? The teenager, who wears the vest all the time, except when sleeping and showering, researched a number of charities before picking ManUp?, which aims to change minds about men’s mental health. Jake says the extra weight has caused him some pain in his calves, shoulders and lower back but “I wanted to put myself through something difficult because of what other guys are going through”.   • Awards for Aspiring Leaders

    Twenty four students from Woking schools received awards recently from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

    Gordon’s School and Woking High School, both members of the Arete Partnership of schools, collaborated on the training which is designed to develop leadership and management skills for a recognised qualification. The ILM Level 2 Leadership and Team Skills certificates were presented to students from the two schools at an awards ceremony at Gordon’s, attended by the Headteacher of Gordon’s, Andrew Moss and Woking High School’s Headteacher Maiken Walter.

    Mr Moss described the group as the “next aspiring leaders” and said that the ethos behind the awards was “leading for a reason, not just for yourself but to try and serve other people”.

  • National Finals for Top Shots

    Top shots James West, Zoe and Henry Chedd, have made their way to the national finals of the British Shooting Schools competition. Team Gordon’s achieved the best school score in the South East Region when they competed in the 10m air rifles with James’s individual score topping the South East region’s intermediate category and Zoe’s best in the region’s Junior category. Congratulations all and much luck for the finals next month in Staffordshire!

  • Hannah Russell OBE

    Congratulations to Gordonian Hannah Russell, awarded an OBE in the New Years Honours List. The 24 year old was recognised after achieving a gold medal at last year's Paralympic Games in Tokyo as she defended her 100m backstroke title. Hannah is pictured here with her former PE teachers Paul King and Jamie Harrison during a recent visit to the school.

  • CHRISTMAS CAROLS

    Celebrating Christmas in the beautiful surroundings of our Victorian Chapel of St Edward the Confessor last night and tonight at the Carol Service. The congregation heard pieces from the Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs, Semper Fidelis Singers as well as members of the school’s Brass Group and Orchestra. Proceeds from the ticket sales and retiring collection will be supporting Mind mental health charity, Safe Passage for child refugees and Compassion UK releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.   • Strictly Sixth Form Dance-Off

    Cheerleaders, zombies and a multitude of Father Christmas’s. The Sixth Form Dance Off, saw girls’ and boys’ Houses link to perform their masterpieces in front of  the tough judging panel of Deputy Heads Rob Pavis and Andrew Reeve together with Head of Sixth Form Sandra Radford, who were marking them on a strict dance criteria of creativity, difficulty, formations and transitions as well as teamwork, timing, eye contact and showmanship. In the end, Augusta and Sandringham, dancing to Party Rock, won the coveted award!

  • Top prize for perfect pasta

    Congratulations to our talented young chefs, Noah Hopkins and Megan Brock, who took part in the local finals of Future Chefs at Crawley College today. Noah presented the judges with a chicken mousse ravioli with a mustard and cream sauce. But Megan's salmon tortellini in a dill and pea sauce proved the winning combination, earning her the top spot in the competition and a place in the regional finals early next year. Noah and Megan competed against ten others in designing, cooking and presenting a meal for two costing up to £5. The industry judges were looking for workmanship, skills, techniques, creativity and presentation as well as composition, taste and flavour in the timed test.

    Wowing capacity audiences over two nights, the Lower School's polished performances of the musical Matilda Jr, based on the children's classic by Roald Dahl, featured a student cast as well as production team. A fantastic team effort that captivated and enchanted all.
