Poet Dai George inspires Gordon’s students during his visit as part of the National Poetry Day celebrations. Mr George’s poetry has appeared in anthologies including the Salt Book of Younger Poets and the Best British Poetry 2011 and 2013
We look forward to welcoming Dai George of the Poetry Society, who will be working with all year groups as part of our celebrations for National Poetry Day. The Cardiff-born poet has had his work included in several anthologies and his latest collection is The Claims Office.
Another successful Duke of Edinburgh’s Award evening - 54 Bronze, 24 Silver and 28 Gold! Great words of encouragement from Gordonian Gabrielle May and Lt Col D J Rawlings RDG Chief of Staff at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst.

Victoria girls getting kitted out for their first march on Sunday 14th October, the Harvest Parade. Outside Khartoum House it’s out with the polish and elbow grease to get an unbelievable shine on their marching shoes.
The sun setting on the Nile this evening at Gordon’s. Now the building is accessible to all thanks to a donation from the Children with Special Needs Foundation in Chobham. The charity generously gave funds towards the cost of an external lift for wheelchairs.
Books bound for Africa: Redundant school text books from Gordon’s are on their way to Africa where they will help educate students there. The project, organised by the Whitmore Trust also sends items such as furniture, bicycles and medication to The Gambia; Zimbabwe and South Africa. http://whitmoretrust.org.uk/
Our generous parents and neighbours come to the Dining Hall for the Macmillan Cancer Research tea party today. Cakes were donated by parents, staff and students and looked absolutely delectable! A great start to the exeat weekend. Thank you to all those who baked and bought.
Head down to the Chobham Festival on Saturday where among the art show exhibits will be pieces by Gordon’s students. The Chobham Art Group’s ‘No Bare Walls’ at the Church Hall in High Street, Chobham is on Saturday 29th September from 10am – 4.30pm and Sunday 30th September from 11.30am to 4.30pm.
Cake-lovers, whether staff or students, joined today for the MacMillan Coffee Morning at Gordon’s School. All brought in cakes for sale to raise money for this worthwhile cause. In Buckingham House, boys enjoyed hot chocolate too! This afternoon parents and members of the wider community will be coming in for a tea party in the dining hall between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
The line-up of silverware up for grabs in the 4th SBF Festival at Gordon's. Rugby, football, hockey and netball matches rounds have already started and the teams are warming up for indoor rowing.
