Not content with achieving a 100 per cent pass rate at A-Level, Gordon’s students have also smashed a school record. Ninety five per cent of them were graded A*-C. A delighted Head Teacher Andrew Moss said: “This is testament to the hard work and determination of our students and dedicated staff in helping them achieve their very best.”

Dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic – Gordon’s School visitors today exhibited all the traits by which the students are known. But these were four-legged Police dogs! The grounds of Kensington House provided the highly skilled Spaniels with an ideal place to undergo training and testing.

The iconic Gordon’s School gates closed for the last time today. The entrance is now being fitted with new accessed controlled gates which will be shut between 8.15am and 5.45pm Monday to Friday. Visitors to the school are advised to park in the north side car park and walk across the bridge.

They scaled an eight foot wall; scrambled over 20 feet of an A-frame covered in ropes; crawled through a concrete tube and then tackled the water obstacles. Gordon’s students were taking part in a team building exercise Royal Navy style at HMS Collingwood near Fareham. Some overcame their fear of heights, others claustrophobia but all completed the challenges with help and encouragement from the Collingwood instructors and their fellow team-mates.

War Horse is coming to Gordon’s School on Saturday 1^st September. The special evening, hosted by the Armed Forces Charity SSAFA, will see an open-air screening of the film in the magnificent grounds of the school. The event is being held to mark the centenary of the First World War.
