Science Club

Science Club is aimed at students from Years 7-9. Some of the students' favourite activities include:

  • Egg drop challenge - involves designing a parachute and capsule to safely land a raw egg from height!
  • Extracting DNA from strawberries
  • Making flourescent solutions from spinach, tumeric and vitamin tablets
  • Fish dissection
  • Making ice cream using an endothermic reaction (one for the summer term!)

Each week is something different and gives students the opportunity to complete a practical or further explore an area of science they wouldn't normally complete in timetabled lessons. We focus on developing key skills from across the sciences such as following methods, investigation planning and designing experiments.
