Key Stage 4 Revision
GCSE Revision Guide
GCSE General Revision Guidance
In order to support GCSE students in their preparation for summer exams, we have created a detailed study and revision guide.
The purpose of this booklet is to offer students some additional support during the Easter holiday, which is the crucial period for intensive revision before public examinations begin. Students will return to school after a three week break and there is no doubt that final grades in August will depend on the effort students have made during this time.
This guide offers general advice about how best to approach revision activities, as well as some tips regarding the creation of revision material/products. Students should use this guide in conjunction with their class notes and subject textbooks. Please also visit individual subject pages for specific guidance where available.
Students should also endeavour to follow a clearly established revision timetable to ensure success in their exams. Gordon's advises students to approach the Easter holidays as if they were still at school and run their revision timetable the same as their school timetable, including using evening prep time for testing and re-capping. This will allow for regular breaks but help to keep students focused on study. It will also help ensure that all subjects are covered effectively, not just their favourites.

KS 5 Study Skills
Students in Year 12 and 13 have had sessions from The Life Skills company this year which built on previous sessions and taught them effective skills such as Condensing Text (condensing text to 20% of its original – great for summarising from sources for research and also for creating revision products) , Time Management (exploring five ways to optimise work/life balance in the Sixth Form), and Presentation Skills (during which they structure, prepare and deliver a persuasive presentation).
In addition to the Revision Guide above, we are also able to access additionally resources from a company called Elevate. Students may find the Elevate website useful as there is subject specific material as well as more general advice.
