Netball

Head of Netball: Ms Nicole Humphrys - nhumphrys@gordons.school   

Netball is the major sport for girls during the Spring Term with over 24 netball teams, our programme caters for all ages and abilities.

Head of Netball Nicole Humphrys, who plays in the Vitality Netball Superleague, is passionate about building both participation and performance at Gordon’s School.

Teams play friendlies against local state and top independent schools both mid-week and at the weekend. Our A teams are also entered into National competitions, including:

  • England Netball National Schools
  • The Independent Schools Netball Cup
  • Sisters n Sport National Cup
  • School Sport Magazine Cup
  • Surrey Schools Tournaments

We offer Sport Scholarships, where our high performance athletes are supported with 1:1 sessions, individualised strength and conditioning programmes, and video analysis.

Surrey Storm’s Leah Middleton leads on the 1:1 sessions with netball scholars.

Recent Success:

  • Winners of our U19 invitational tournament (September2021)
  • Retained the Duchess of Gloucester Cup  (December 2021)
  • U19 National Semifinalist (sisters n sport) (February 2021)
  • Crowned 2nd best U19 school in Surrey (February 2021)
  • U14’s top 12 schools in Surrey (March 2021)
  • U16 District Champions (March 2021)
  • U15 District Champions (March 2021)
  • U12 District Champions (March 2021).

We also boast individual success, with many Gordon’s students amongst county, franchise academies, NPL squads, England Netball’s Roses Academy, and some breaking into Superleague.

Facilities and Coaching:

With a developing fixture programme, we have four outdoor netball courts and brand new sports hall. Our programme is supported by qualified netball coaches who help run our teams, where our girls receive excellent technical coaching of the game.

  • We are in partnership with Surrey Storm, where we host the U17 North Academy
  • Masterclass and Q&A from Proscovia Peace, Ugandan Captain, and Felisitus Kwangwa, Zimbabwean Captain (2022)
  • Trip to watch live Superleague match at Surrey Storm’s home ground Surrey Sport Park (2020 and 2021)
  • Ball girl experience for Surrey Storm match (2020)
  • Trip to Liverpool to watch the Netball World Cup (2019)
  • Masterclass with Superleague player Jo Trip (2018)
