Musical Futures is a new way to access music. It allows students who are interested in performing to jump in feet first.
From the very first lesson, students can hold the appropriate instrument in their hands and learn to play as part of an ensemble. The curriculum of Musical Futures is firmly based in the field of contemporary music, and students will choose to play mainly guitar, bass, drums or vocals. No prior experience is necessary, nor do you need to be able to read music.
A key feature of Musical Futures tuition is that, whilst teachers can guide, advise and direct pupils, we rely on students themselves to choose the repertoire and bring in ideas from outside the classroom. Examples of worksheets can be found by clicking on the links below. The Music Department has invested heavily in equipment this year, meaning that we now have plenty of kit for students to get there hands on. Musical Futures is currently running during Period 7 and we would encourage anyone who is interested to sign up during next term’s Period 7 choices.
