Welcome to Gordon's Music Department where we have an abundance of curricular and co-curricular options for students with an interest in music, including additional, specific instrument lessons available from expert staff.
A team of specialist staff provide tuition in piano, guitar, percussion and the full range strings, woodwind and brass instruments. There are school orchestras, senior and junior choirs, brass bands and various instrumental groups. Concerts are held off-site at the H G Wells Theatre in Woking; and are always sold out.
A unique and well-known feature of Gordon’s is our fifty strong Pipes and Drums band. The Pipes and Drums reflect the ceremonial tradition of Gordon’s School which has been established for over 100 years. The Pipes and Drums play not only for our nine annual ceremonial parades, but are also in high demand for fetes and other events outside of the School. This year they will be performing in the 'Lest We Forget Children's Concert' at the NEC in Birmingham, to honour and remember those who lived, fought and died in the First World War. The Pipes and Drums wear a form of military uniform incorporating the Gordon's tartan, and the same uniform is worn by all students for ceremonial parades.
