The Mock Trials are a simulation of legal practice and argument in a real Crown Court. Students present prosecution and defence cases in front of a practising judge, and take on a wide variety of roles, from barrister to usher. Students (many of whom aspire towards a career in law) develop their confidence, articulation, self-motivation, resilience, and perceptive skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of the criminal justice system. We enter teams at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

The Key Stage 4 Bar Mock Trials team visited Guildford Crown Court in November to once again to present prosecution and defence cases for two criminal trials. All of our students worked extremely hard preparing for the competition and thoroughly enjoyed the day. We definitely have some of the future’s top barristers in our midst!
Our Key Stage 3 team came second in the Mock Trial regional competition in 2016-17. These students then competed in the Bar Mock Trials in 2017-18 and received high scores.
The Mock Trials Team visited Staines Magistrates Court recently to rehearse for their forthcoming competitions at Guildford Crown Court.
