Current guidance advocates a return to normal before-school and after-school provision and co-curricular activity, and recognises the advantages and benefits of a boarding school structure, where all our students belong to either a Day or Residential Boarding House.  The pastoral support provided by the House staff is essential to deliver the wrap-around care of our students to support their mental-health and well-being.

House staff, and particularly Heads of Houses, know each student individually and use this relationship to support well-being and identify any issues early.

To achieve the outstanding levels of pastoral care and support that students and parents have come to expect from Gordon's, House 'bubbles' operate before 8.20am and after 3.35pm each day, while students will be in their class-time 'bubbles' during Periods 1-6 including lunchtime.

Students are still able to access all the facilities and staff support in their Houses at breaktimes and at lunchtimes. When in the House, students can expect to stay within their year groups to minimise the potential risk of contamination, with students in different year groups never spending more than 15 minutes together in the same space. Year 12 and Year 13 students sharing Study Room accommodation may be required to quarantine through track-and-trace in the event of a positive case of Covid-19.

Students arrive each morning in House where they will be registered (paper - not biometric). Students will be supervised in locker rooms in smaller groups to allow for social-distancing to further reduce the risk of contamination. Students will also need to carry their belongings, including water-bottles and hand-sanitiser if they wish, in their green Gordon's bag in order to reduce the time needed in the locker room and to help keep themselves organised and their belongings safe.
