CV Writing Skills

Year 12 students had a workshop on how to write an effective CV, both for applying for their work experience and for applying for part time jobs. Some elements of this will also be useful on their personal statements if they choose to go to University.

The PowerPoint shown here is that which was used in the CV writing workshop. Students were also given a copy of the attached word file, as a place to start if they had not previously started a CV.

Once students have made their first draft of the CV, they are advised to send their CV to their CV Mentor. A CV Mentor is a person connected to the Gordon's School Community who is also an employer or somebody who reviews many CVs as part of their job. These Mentors will review Year 12 students' CVs and give them feedback, either by email or through a meeting at school.
