On Monday 11th January 2016 Gordon's School hosted the second sporting event contributing to The Arete Partnership Cup: swimming. The competition took place in the Garrison Sports Centre Swimming Pool in Aldershot. The pool is a 50 metre, eight lane Olympic length pool with unique features including a moveable boom which can be used to create a range of configurations: a standard 50 metre pool, two 25 metre pools and a 40 metre and 10 metre pool. This provided an excellent opportunity for all our young swimmers to experience professional quality facilities in their field.

As always in the Arete Partnership Cup both Woking High School and Gordon’s School demonstrated excellence in the performance of their competitors and the supporting fans who loudly encouraged individuals from each school to do their best. Everyone settled down to watch an exciting afternoon’s competition in what is fast becoming a major sporting competition in the school calendar. With 42 swimmers competing for Gordon's School fans were delighted when the school won 7 of the individual events which included a double for both Keavy Bye and Brogan Hyde. Ella Litjens, Joanna Hay and Sophie-Lily Sturm each won their event.

The final score for the gala was 228 to Woking High and 156 to Gordon's. Of course the smooth running of this event would not be possible without the help of our young leaders and volunteers who have revealed themselves as outstanding ambassadors for their school and sport. Both schools put in excellent performances with Woking High demonstrating both strength and skill in each event, leading to an overall win in this part of the competition.
