On the evening of Saturday 8th February, nine of our swimmers represented Gordon's at the Guildford Spectrum in the Surrey County Individual Swimming Championships.
Once again the poolside and spectators gallery were packed with swimmers, coaches and spectators. The event is entered by hundreds of swimmers representing schools of strong national pedigree from throughout the county. As always the competition was of a high quality.
Our swimmers were, in the Junior Girls section, Keavy Bye, Lizzy Mosdell, Poppy De Vere-Green Chloe Benfield and Maddi Metcalfe. Representing Gordon's in the Intermediate Girls event, we had Lucy Spruzs, Jess DeVere-Green Siobhan Bye and Alice Russell.
All girls gave a fantastic account of themselves in their respective strokes. Notable achievements were Keavy Bye in the Junior Girls Freestyle who produced a PB with a time of 1.11.51. However the outstanding results were without doubt, Chloe Benfield swimming Fly and Alice Russell swimming Individual Medley.
Both girls won their respective race with Alice swimming IM in a time of 1.12.62 and Chloe winning the Fly in 1.11.70 Given the level of competition this was a fantastic result for both girls who have kept Gordon's on the swimming map. Well Done to all!
A final thank you must go to Miss Kate Williams for giving up her time and acting as team manager for me on the day.
