For the first time in Gordon’s history, a girls’ Under 18 football team is representing the school. The U’18 First Eleven team, which was formed due to popular demand, has already played one match and another seven fixtures are scheduled against schools such as Charterhouse and ACS Cobham. Last year the boys’ First Eleven team reached the semi-finals of the EFSA cup and Head of Football Paul King is hoping his female proteges will be equally successful: “The enthusiasm is certainly there”, he said, adding “I have also been impressed with their style and deftness. Many of the girls play football outside school so it was only a matter of time before it was added to their PE curriculum.”
