Podium Finishes for Gordon’s County Swimmers

On the evening of Saturday 7th February, five of Gordon’s swimmers entered the Surrey Schools Individual Swimming Championships held at Guildford.

The swimmers were, Keavy Bye, Lizzy Mosdell, Siobhan Bye, Chloe Benfield and Alice Russell.
As ever, just over 240 quality swimmers from schools throughout Surrey were competing for the title of County Champion. The standard was, as always, extremely high with most of these girls competing against each other regularly on the club circuit.

As far as Gordon’s was concerned the highlights of the evening had to go to Chloe Benfield who finished 3rd in the Intermediate 100m fly with a time of 1.11.06. It is worth pointing out that Chloe had travelled up from Bristol that afternoon having competed in a club event in the morning. That shows commitment!

Our other success went to Alice Russell who finished as runner-up in the Senior Girls 200m Individual Medley with a time of 2.50.05. Alice who has been a long standing swimmer has recently shifted her efforts to her new found sport of rowing. Therefore, to finish as runner-up at County level was quite some achievement given her time in the pool these days.

Well done to all who took part and a particular thankyou to the parents who supported our girls.
