  • ROWING BRONZE

    It’s a bronze for rower James Gibson, who swept to third place in the Year 9 Boys event on Sunday in a nail-biting finish at the British Rowing Virtual Championships. James, part of a team of rowers from the Gordon’s Boat Club also made his personal best. Our rowers, many of whom achieved top ten placings in their categories, joined over a thousand entrants from 30 countries world-wide, competing in real-time, side by side races in their own homes. Their coach, three times Olympian Cox Alan Inns told them: “…if the rowing world did not know who Gordon’s Boat Club are, they do now”.

  • A SCRUM OF RUGBY LEGENDS

    The XV Rugby side celebrating their most successful season ever, welcomed a line-up of rugby legends from across the world at their virtual awards evening this week. The evening of celebrations included Saracens prop Richard Barrington; Wales Rugby, British Lions and Exeter Chiefs Alex Cuthbert; Trevor Leota from Wasps Rugby, who won 30 caps for Samoa; Fijian Rugby Union and Sevens player and Olympic Gold Medallist Jasa Veremalua and the King of Sevens, Waisale Serevi. The rugby heroes congratulated the Gordon’s team on their successes at The Stoop; Seaford College Sevens and South Africa tour and wished them luck in the coming season. Five of the First XV team currently play for their county with the school's Player of the Year, Corum trialing for Wales Under 18s and appearing for Scarlets and Welsh Exiles.

  • REFLECTIONS ON RESILIENCE, LEADERSHIP...AND SEA SICKNESS

    They were the first official British Army team to complete the world’s toughest ocean row – the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge 2019/2020. On Thursday 25th June at 5pm, Lt Col Richard Hall will take us through their epic journey and the 37 gruelling days spent on the water.     His music career has spanned over 20 years and brought him international fame, but was music the path his parents wanted him to follow? Singer/songwriter Frank Turner, has performed at Leeds and Reading Festivals for the past ten years as well as packed out arenas across the world.   • FROM TEN TORS TO INTERNATIONAL CRISES

    Now a trained to respond rapidly to crises around the globe within hours and assist with disaster response, evacuations and small focussed intervention operations, Gordonian Major Stephanie Manning-Degobertiere began her military life as part of Gordon’s CCF, completing the Ten Tors Challenge as the only female member of the team after Mr Fox's “…excellent training and guidance”. She says of him “He showed me anything is possible if you put your mind to it”. On Thursday, Major Manning-Degobertiere, who was deployed to China to help with the repatriation of British Nationals from Wuhan, will be giving a Careers Insight Webinar.
