    Our new Head Boy and Girl – Jack Bodell’s and Emily Jones’s names have just been added to the boards in the Rec. The two, whose deputies are Euan Ayles and Olivia Adcock, will take up their duties from next term at the Guildford Cathedral Service during Memorial Weekend. Wishing them the best of luck in their new roles.

  • Team Talk

    One term; eight sports and 411 fixtures for our PE Department. But for our First XV Rugby Team, their match in the Sovereign’s Cup against Royal Alexandra and Albert was their last as a team. With a tour of South Africa; win at The Stoop; two of his players turning out for the county and two in squads for their country, coach Chris Davies invited parents, who have supported throughout, to join in a final team talk. Speaking of his squad, Mr Davies commented: “I see these boys as an extended part of my own family. I want them to turn out to be the best versions of themselves and achieve their aspirations. When we play, we judge performance on the effort, not the result.”

  • bucking the trend

    The Liberal Democrats swept to victory at Gordon’s School in the G-Elections.Students and staff  voted overwhelmingly for the school’s candidate Teah Jasani, who  clinched 264 votes with the Conservative second with 182 and Labour, Green and UKIP trailing with 76; 69 and 30 respectively. The turnout was 57.5 per cent. Bucking the national trend once more, Gordon's students and staff voted overwhelmingly in the G-Election for their Liberal Democrat candidate Teah Jasani. The hard fought campaign saw four of the five Surrey Heath parliamentary candidates visit during the lead up to the General Election. As well as the sitting MP Michael Gove, the school welcomed Sharon Galliford of the Green Party; Brahma Mohanty, Labour and Alasdair Pinkerton, Liberal Democrats.  All stayed for lunch with the school’s student ‘party’candidates and gave a talk about their party’s policies and aims to students and staff as well as answering their questions. UKIP were also invited.

    Hundreds and staff and students voted in G-Election. The campaign has seen four of the five Surrey Heath candidates visit the school for talks and question and answer sessions. Each our our candidates has spoken in Assembly on their party's policies.

    Teddy bears and hampers full of food and clothing winged their way to the Lighthouse in Woking and Camberley All Night Café. Items for the boxes have been donated by parents, students and staff to support those in our local community needing a little extra help this festive season. Sixth Formers helped to distribute them this morning.

  • MUN Greece

    They made speeches for and against resolutions and succeeded in getting many of their amendments passed. Representing the only UK school in the Costeas-Geitonas School Model United Nations Conference in Greece, our students were involved in some fascinating debates on cyber governance, the theme of the conference. Guest talks included the vision of using technology in the future and keeping safe online.

    Sixth Formers on the campaign trail took over this morning’s Assembly in this, their final week of trying to win votes before our G-Election on Thursday. Each of the five political parties with candidates in Surrey Heath are being represented by a student. Today, as students across the year groups starting receiving their G-Election polling cards, party candidates explained the voting process and an outline of each of their party’s policies to their younger peers. Over the past few weeks, candidates representing Surrey Heath’s political parties of Green; Labour; Liberal Democrat and Conservative have been visiting for talks and question and answer sessions.

    Bringing some Christmas carols to The Lighthouse in Woking, Windsor House girls sang and played for those using the centre, which hosts a range of creative projects and practical help for those who find themselves on the margins. The centre has been chosen by Windsor as their charity for this year and already students, parents and staff have donated clothes for the organisation's 'Esteem Ahead' which exists to support women in all seasons of life.

    Green-fingered students in our Gardening Club enjoyed a celebration day at RHS Wisley where they were given the chance to demonstrate what they have planned for their mindfulness garden next to the Medical Centre. Their Green Plan It Scheme garden will feature a gazebo, sunken garden and seating to provide a place for all to connect, appreciate, be active, achieve and give.

  • Meeting the candidates

    We welcomed Michael Gove, sitting Conservative MP for Surrey Heath today, as the last of our political candidates. Over the past few weeks, the Gordon's candidates have been meeting their Parliamentary counterparts (Sharon Galliford of the Green Party; Brahma Mohanty, Labour and Alasdair Pinkerton, Liberal Democrats) over lunch at school before listening to a talk by them to students and staff. A lively question and answer session has followed each visit. Next week our candidates will attend a hustings before Gordon's goes to the Polls on Thursday. Best of luck to both our candidates and those who broke their busy campaigning schedules to come and visit us.
