    Once again Gordon’s can claim to be a truly global school with the news that it has been reaccredited with the International School Award. The award, which helps schools to enrich their curriculums and become part of a global network of international educators, recognises the international partners Gordon’s has with schools in Europe, Asia and Africa. In particular the assessor highlighted the connections with Sudan and the Khartoum International Community School.

    Preparations underway for the special event at Gordon’s School on Saturday which will see an open air screening of the film War Horse. Hosted by Armed Forces Charity SSAFA, fundraising evening is being held to mark the centenary of the First World War. Tickets are available through Eventbrite (please click here)with all proceeds going towards SSAFA’s current work helping today’s generation of servicemen and women, veterans and their families across Surrey.

    CCF Cadet Dan Farrow ready for his parachute jump at RAF Netheravon, Wiltshire. He was awarded the Gardiner Memorial Award in June, which gave him the chance to tandem parachute jump with the Royal Electrical and Mechnical Engineers. Daniel, who earned a Flying Scholarship with the RAF, was also awarded the Sword of Honour as the most successful Gordon’s CCF Senior Cadet.

    Jubilant scenes in the Rec at Gordon’s this morning as students found that despite the tougher new-style exams, over 90 per cent of them had achieved the gold standard of five or more GCSE grades including English and Maths.

    Best of luck to all our GCSE students.  For those wishing to collect their results from school tomorrow, they will be available for Y11s in the Rec from 10.00am and for Y10s from 11.00am. Results not collected will be posted home.

  • Realising their dreams

    Doctors in the making - Lexi Genetay, Rebecca Dovenor and Zara Cracroft's A Level results will enable them to study Medicine. Tate Pilgrim, on course with his private helicopter licence, will study for his commercial licence in Leicester. Edrick Ho and Callum Sumpter earned places at Oxford and Cambridge respectively. Josh Papworth, set to read Mechanical Engineering enthused: “All the weeks and months of revision – it’s really great to see it’s paid off”. Click here for A Level Results 2018 in full.     Not content with achieving a 100 per cent pass rate at A-Level, Gordon’s students have also smashed a school record. Ninety five per cent of them were graded A*-C. A delighted Head Teacher Andrew Moss said: “This is testament to the hard work and determination of our students and dedicated staff in helping them achieve their very best.”

    Dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic – Gordon’s School visitors today exhibited all the traits by which the students are known. But these were four-legged Police dogs! The grounds of Kensington House provided the highly skilled Spaniels with an ideal place to undergo training and testing.

    Summer holidays it may be but Gordon’s is anything but quiet. While work goes on to improve perimeter fencing; re-construct offices and departments and keep up with general repairs; the building of the new Nile Maths block of six classrooms is forging ahead.
