RIFLE MARKMANSHIP

Smallbore rifle marksmanship is  open to all students in Year 8 and older to apply to try out on a termly basis, as long as they are registered as part of the CCF. There are 24 places available, which are awarded on a first applied, first awarded basis.

All students in Year 10 are offered at least one opportunity in the year to fire cadet smallbore rifles learning the basics of rifle safety.

There are an additional 12 places for an elite selected school team who, as well as practising within the estate, train on gallery and full bore rifles in partnership with a rifle club at the National Shooting Centre at Bisley. This requires a firm commitment of twice a week for at least a year.

The team has been training and developing to safely and effectively compete in national competitions in various disciplines of small and full bore marksmanship at increasing distances with the long term aim of developing a full bore marksmanship team.

Competitions

The team competes in friendly smallbore competitions against other local schools.

This year the team will compete in aspects of the (national) Phoenix and Imperial Competitions with the intent of expanding the range of disciplines and practices in future years.
