Podium Places in Swimming District Championships

The Pool in the Park played host, once again, for this year’s Inter-Schools NW Surrey Schools Swimming Championships

Thirteen Podium Places for our Swimmers in the District Championships

The Pool in the Park played host, once again, for this year’s Inter-Schools NW Surrey Schools Swimming Championships. Eleven teams of 20 swimmers from Year 7-11 took part.

As ever, the standard was very high with some fantastic displays of competitive swimming across all schools and all age groups. The gala has always been a close run event between ourselves, Woking High, Winston Churchill. St John The Baptist and Tomlinscote.

After some extremely hard fought battles, our swimmers finished in third overall team position, narrowly missing out. However every one of our swimmers gave their all to push the opposition all the way, finishing with 6 individual third places, 2 individual second places and 5 individual winners.

Notable individual performances were Iain Falconer winning the Year 7 Butterfly, Brogan Hyde winning both the Year 8 Butterfly and Breaststroke and Keavy Bye winning both Year 10 Butterfly and Freestyle.

Our team captain, Chloe Benfield, collected the trophy on behalf of the team along with her two silver medals for runner-up in both Year 11 Backstroke and Butterfly.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our own Mrs Michelle Justice who organised the whole event from start to finish, in a thoroughly professional manner. Also to Ms Cath Holmes and her team of Year 11 and Sixth Form students, currently on the Sports Leaders Course, who ensured a smooth running operation on the stats and records table. I would also like to thank all parents and relatives who took time out to support our swimmers. Finally a thank you to all swimmers, who were without doubt, once again a credit to Gordon's.
