Humbled and honoured, students members of the Pipes and Drums took part in the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate on Sunday. After a Parade from the Town Hall in Ypres through the town, the group of 28 pipers and drummers gathered close to the iconic Memorial to the Missing. There, Pipe Major Owen played the lament before the whole band joined for Amazing Grace. A wreath was laid at the foot of the Memorial to the Missing by Drum Major Lottie. The Last Post has been sounded at the Gate every evening at 8.00pm since 1928. The Gordon’s Pipes and Drum’s contributed to the 31,669^th service at the Memorial dedicated to the 54,000 British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in Belgium and have no known grave.
